On 10 May 2013, at the Latvian Society House in Riga, twelve rural tourism hosts received the very first Cultural Quality Marks “Latvian Heritage” in a ceremonial event. Among these first twelve recipients was Vienkoči Park, which was awarded the mark for preserving and promoting a traditional Latvian craft — woodworking.
The “Latvian Heritage” Cultural Quality Mark is awarded to rural tourism entrepreneurs who preserve and promote Latvian cultural and everyday heritage, presenting it to visitors and passing it on to future generations. Applicants are evaluated by a special commission composed of well-known Latvian experts in various fields of cultural heritage.
The initiative was launched by LLTA “Lauku ceļotājs” (Rural Traveller), with the idea supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia and the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments.
